Easter Blessings

So yesterday was a long day, Ben and I spent the day shooting a wedding on the other side of the state. We didn't get back home till about 1 in the morning. The ride back home was so long and tiring but we also had some good talks out of it. Its always different being at weddings now and interacting with some friends that are married and seeing the weddings and just the different perspectives on marriage you get from different people. We truly feel that we are so lucky and that marriage does not seem to be very hard at us and we are proud of the way we handle our relationship and how we make it work and mesh so well with each other.
It was hard for us to get up for the Easter service with as exhausted as we were, but I am glad we did. After all it is Easter. We had the pleasure of hosting Easter this year for both our families. It is a blessing to have both of our families together including our grandparents all in our new home to celebrate any occasion. It was quite a houseful and lots of food and no kitchen space to spare but we managed and it was a really good time. I know that it truly meant a lot to us to have them together and we appreciate the effort put in on both sides. We are lucky to not only have our families close but that they are willing to spend time together. I know that is not the case for everyone.
After all our family time we ended the evening with a walk with the dog and a few holes of golf on our wonderful backyard course. Its so fun and convenient to have a golf course in the backyard! It was the first time I have played since we moved in and it was fun. I look forward to spending some time out there with Ben this summer and a great way to end our evenings.
OH yes I did forget the best story of the day haha. Grandma and I thought it would be cute to make sugar cookies adn cut out little ducks for Easter (yeah not bunnies I didn't have that cookie cutter but ducks are springtime!) Well it didn't end up very well because we bought the store sugar cookies and not from scratch. So we tried to roll out the store dough and mesh it together and the ducks turned out great! Even added some food coloring but well when they cooked they all just blobbed together and the ducks were no more then one giant mishapen cookie!! It was quite interesting haha. Here are a few pics to share.

This was the group plus Elizabeth and the kids

Ellie turns 1 :)

There are long periods in between my posts these days, only because I guess I feel like there isn't anything very exciting going on to blog about! I realize its only been a week, so I guess the same work and cooking and trying more on walking a lot outside for Ben and I. The only other news is this past weekend we went to Chicago for my niece Elli's 1st Birthday! It was a very short visit but a fun day spent with them and we all got to go swimming and spend a day together. On Sunday Ben and I went t work as he did some handyman services for some friends of ours and I took some senior pics. I always love shooting in new locations and of course my subject was stunning :) So I am so excited to get editing some pics.
For now here are some adorable pics of my Niece Ellie :)

2 years and countin..

So today is our anniversary. I don't know how many people keep track of their actual anniversary after they get married, but for me its not just our celebration of getting together on April 4th but it was 6 months being married on the 2nd. I like how it all laid out that our actual anniversary and our marriage anniversary will forever call within two days of each other and its exactly half a year a part. So its a good celebration for both and meaning we can take weekend trips to celebrate both because their only a few days a part! Okay now I'm being a girl and rambling about not really important things ha. The important thing being that two years ago today we made the trip down to Chicago and I took a HUGE leap of faith and boy was I scared to death to finally give Ben my answer. He had been waiting patiently, of course and I just couldn't do it, but I caved and I have been sooooo happy since! Best decision ever. I can't believe we have been married 6 months now either! It actually feels longer. I have heard from many people that I know and from just general advice that the first year of marriage is the hardest, or some say even like the first 5 years. Also how big of an adjustment it is and that it changes everything. Honestly, it hasn't been a huge adjustment, it hasn't been that hard, not saying we haven't had a few fights, but thats it just a few and they happened to be about the same things. Yes we also have been sick (mostly me) and we have had our car troubles but as for our relationship it hasn't been as rocky. So I don't know if we have it easy or that we have learned from our missteps in the past but if this is as hard as it gets I can definitely live with that! Ben is so amazing and sweet and patient I could go on and on about how lucky I am. I know no one is perfect and we both have our flaws but I do think we are perfect for each other. I wouldn't say we are opposites because we do have a lot in common, but I would say that where we lack the other person is strong and we balance out. I wouldn't of wanted a different path then the one God chose for us.
I know I may be rambling on about our anniversary but we didn't really do much, no presents or anything I am just really enjoying my week off of work and I went all out and made apple sage pork chops with cinnamon apples and triple berry cobber for desert. I put on my cherry apron, turned on some music and took over the kitchen. I really wish I could do that a lot more and it makes me hate working every evening and I can't say there has been too many times where Ben walks in the door at night and I am cooking dinner and ready to eat. I like that feeling and I like doing it, to me thats a part of being a wife. Although I did hate just doing all the dishes haha. Thank goodness we have a dishwasher, I love it.
Well once again thanks to my amazing, wonderful husband who has made the last two years the best ever!

So this is the first picture taken of us together!

Long overdue

So besides being back from the trip and being sick, not much else has been going on. This past week I tried to cook something everyday and Ben and I are really starting to try and eat healthier and wanting to eat before I get home from work at 9 every night. Which is really hard and annoying too that we have to try and eat dinner in the afternoon before I go in. But its something that needs to be done. This week we did lemon pepper tilapia and rice, grilled steaks, venison enchiladas, broccoli corn cheese and potato soup, and we also have been making wraps or sandwiches for lunch everyday. I know everyone freaks out when they hear that we literally eat venison for everything. But let me just say this, Ben got a deer in the fall and we are STILL eating the meat!! 5-6 months later. First off lets just think about how much money we are saving on buying ground beef or sirloin. Second I am one of those people that hated venison, I had tried it before and not only did it smell horribly but it tasted the same. This is different. When you get it processed and ground up and then also we have had a ton of steaks too. Honestly I can't tell the difference and it is way healthier for you. I can't even tell you how big of a difference in just the grease alone coming off is compared to ground beef. There is barely any. Also its just way less fattening. We have used it in almost everything. Steaks, tacos, enchiladas, chili, spaghetti, pasta, etc. Lots of things and is awesome not having to buy meat every week. We do still buy chicken and fish to mix it up, but we must of saved a lot of money. Its been awesome, I hope next year He gets two!!
On the health front, I finally went to the dentist because I have had a toothache for about two weeks and it hasn't gone a way. So nothing was wrong, my teeth are great, but we took xrays and he should me wear there is a huge mucus blockage from my sinuses and it is sitting on top of my back teeth. Literally I could see the ball in the xrays. No Suprise there, me having sinus issues? No wonder I keep getting sick, apparently its not getting rid off. So I went back on another antibiotic and hopefully it will make a difference. Except I only have one day left and its still there so who knows if I will have to stay on it longer. Now to my shoulder, which I have started physical therapy this week and its starting to hurt a lot, like today its just killing. It gets really sore after my exercises but I am so sick of it hindering certain things! Ugh!
So today it is pouring rain and thunder storming as I am typing. I love it. I love rainstorms and I just woke up from a nap on the couch with Ben. It is one of my favorite things to take naps with the rain. I can't wait till its warm enough to open the windows!! Hopefully this means it will get warmer soon. I am so looking forward to summer and to skip ahead to the beginning of July where I can have some time off and relax. The next few weeks are really busy as May and June are also my busiest months of the year. So I will be having lots to write about!
Now off to edit some YMCA gymnastics pics!

Covered Bridges & Waterfalls

So I realize it has been far too long since I updated! I forgot after Florida to post again. With reason as I was once again SO SICK!! Apparently with me it is never ending. It seems as soon as I get better maybe for like a week or two, then it hits me all over again. So yes for all those who are jealous that I went to Florida (for literally not even two days) I pretty much stayed on the couch blowing my nose constantly. We did manage to make it out to the beach and stayed there for like half an hour and I got fried. So not too much fun. When we started the trip back though we had a few surprises in store for Grandma. We stopped and saw a few covered bridges, for those of you who know my Grandma she loves I mean really loves covered bridges. It was a really good surprise the first time we drove up to one and the reaction she had! It makes a long car ride totally worth it. We ended up coming across a really amazing one in Northern Georgia where its not just a long covered bridge but also over a pretty good size falls on a big river with lots of rapids. It was so pretty to see. We saw a few covered bridges and a total of 5 big waterfalls. Driving through the heart of the Blue Ridge Smokys is always amazing to me, the views are breathtaking, long fast rivers, gorgeous waterfalls, quaint country towns. It's always makes for amazing, unforgettable trips. Here are a few pics of the waterfalls and bridges... I also posted a lot of pictures on facebook!! Not only do I love my photography job but taking nature pics is really a true love of mine. I love traveling and capturing the beautiful scenes, I hope someday that I can be able to have a way to sell them and share with the people the way I see the world.

Only nevermind, blogger is acting up and not letting my upload photos. Like I mentioned there is a ton in the album "Smoky Mountains" that I posted on facebook. Anyone whether my friend or not is allowed to view my photos!
