So just been busy with work and organzing some business stuff this week. Nothing exciting. Same old stuff. I am working on an another senior to finish and the engagment pictures I posted before. So there is definitely some more pictures coming soon. I put up some orchard and pumpkin carving pictures on facebook so you can go check those out! As for life nothing new other than working at the new job and maranatha this weekend. The new job is going really well. I am really liking it a lot. Hoping to get some more business for the Christmas season. I am also really excited that my parents and grandma are coming up this weekend for Halloween and staying! It's been a few weeks since I have seen them, so that will be a lot of fun to have them at my house and decorate and hand out candy all together. Definitely am counting down the days till we get to road trip to Cinncinati for a wedding! So excited for a mini-weekend get away vacation haha even though it is technically for work. Still super fun! Only a week to we leave for the weekend! Then only 3 weeks till Vegas :) ahhhh can't wait!

That's all for now.

Meet Mark and Laura

Meet Laura and Mark! Seriously the cutest couple ever! Ben and I had a blast hanging out with them for the day. We traveled up to the beautiful Traverse City to do the shoot and luckily had the only day of no rain this weekend! All the colors were so amazing around the lake and we stopped many places out on Old Mission Peninsula to take engagement pictures, every where from apple orchards and pumpkin patches to old barns, beaches and vineyards.... every location was breathtaking and what made it even more amazing was this couple right here who have the most sweetest, kindest personalites. I could just tell how madly in love they were and I barely had to be a photographer because they were so naturally cozy with eachother! It was an awesome time, thanks so much Mark and Laura for making it an awesome day trip!
Can't wait for the winter wedding :) More engagement pictures of them to come soon!

Traverse City!

So this weekend was so busy! I started the new job last week which is going really well. I really like it and like everyone I am working with and since Marantha is winding down some I am glad something came up that I got offered and really like being able to work in photography still. So friday I ended up working 13 hours! Insane right? Omg I worked at the studio in the morning and afternoon (someone called in sick so I picked it up) and then went to Marantha to work for dinner and then abck to the studio till close and it was so busy Friday night that I didn't get home till after 10 and then I went with Ben and Michael (his brother) to the Haunted Hall in Grand Haven. Even though I was super tired it was a good relief and helped to just relax a bit after such a long day. So the Haunted Hall wasn't that scary. But it did have some really cool parts like one of those psycadelic tunnels where it turns all around you in the darkness and you walk across a catwalk and get really dizzy :) And an alice in wonderland type thing where the walls and ceiling shrunk down on top of you until you had to crawl through a little tiny door! To make it worse this room was black and white checkered with strobe lights going haha... but we were almost to the tiny crawl out door and the strobe lights just stopped! So yeah it was kinda a clown theme which didn't scare me too bad, because I'm not one of those that are scared of clowns. Apparently 1 out of every 10 are though! (we learned that at the entrance).
So that was Friday then on Saturday I woke up at 6:30 and went to work at Maranatha and worked the morning then in the afternoon went over to Ben's parents and carved pumpkins with the whole family. I never really remember carving pumpkins as a kid, not sure if we did. Definitely not a tradition. So last week when we went to the orchard we all picked them out to carve and it was so fun, so Saturday we got to carve. I was so excited about drawing on the pumkin freestyle and picking out what shapes I wanted for the eyes, nose and mouth. Like a clown grin mouth, or toothy grin or sooo many options. I had been thinking about it for awhile, obviously :) So once we set them all out Elizabeth (Ben's sister) had brought a bunch of pattern books for the kids to pick out. I had no idea you could pick patterns for the pumpkins!!! So exciting!! SO I sat there and looked through all these patterns and I didn't want something to kiddish or too challenging.... yet at the same time since it was my first time carving in who knows how long, I wanted to be traditional and carve it the old fashioned way. So I was kinda torn! So Ben and I compromised and we decided we would share both our pumkins and carve one the freestyle way and one with a cool pattern! I was happy with that. So now let me tell you something, I found out last week Ben didn't like carving pumpkins well and I was soo excited that we were going to do it and I begged him to start the tradition with me. Well on Saturday I found out who truly terrified and disgusted out he is by the slimy, stringy guts of the pumkin haha! He cringed sooo much it was quite hilarious! I mean you can discect and play with the guts in a human but not a pumpkin?!! But hey we all have are weird phobias (well I have quite a few actually) so I guess he is allowed 1 :) So I said if I clean out the guts then he can carve them (I am not good at carving in a straight line, too impatient) so he was happy with that compromise, since anything that has to do with playing with knives he is more than glad to do! So I cleaned them out well he carved and then I drew the face on our traditional pumkin and then we picked out this awesome pattern of 3 wolves howling on top of a mountain with the moon! I know it sounds weird but it will look sooo cool! I will definitely post some pics, I can't wait to see them with candles in them!
So I know this is getting quite long, but I am just starting on Sunday! We (Ben and I) went to Traverse City for the day yesterday. It was sooo fun. I know I might have been there like once or twice when I was younger but I honestly don't remember very much about it and Ben and his family love going up there and he has been there quite a bit so he was excited to take and show me around for once! So I actually had to go up to take engagement pics. And we are so lucky because it poured all day Friday, Saturday and even today! So we lucked out and yesterday it didn't rain. It was definitely a little more overcast then I would hope for but so glad it didn't rain! And the fall color was just so beautiful up there and all the water was perfect fall background locations for pictures! I am soo excited to go through them and see what we got. Ben took a lot of pictures himself which I am so glad about because He is improving so much and really has the eye for it and I am so happy that he enjoys it and is willing to learn to love what I do! So like I said I can't wait to go through them and I know for sure there are some really amazing ones. Mark and Laura are the cutest couple and I can't wait for the wedding! They were so natural and relaxed and nice that I already knew Laura a little bit so it wasn't as nervewracking. After I go through them and edit some, I will definitely post some because I can't wait to share them with everyone!! It was an awesome day just riding around and picking out random spots and taking in the beautiful scenery. For anyone who hasn't gone it is definitely beautiful up there! After we got done with the shoot, Ben and I went off to one of the winerys and went wine tasting (something else I had never done) and I have never really liked any wines I've tasted. They are all too bitter for me so it was a lot of fun to sample them and we found one we both really liked! We then kinda snuck around the vineyard for a bit because it was so beautiful I wanted to look. It was on a big hill and just the rows of vines ran forever downhill into the lake and surrounded by tons of orange and red trees. So pretty. We then went to this little old fashioned general store that Laura showed us and stopped and got fresh hot flavored apple cider! That's right I said flavored... Ben got Cherry apple cider and I got cinnamon. It was amazing and so good to take the chill off and take in the car with us. We also got these old school glass bottles of cola with the oldfashioned labels on them. So cool! Then off to downtown to go in all the cute little shops and walk around (bummer that it was raining a little though) so where we parked was on the other side of the river from the little shops, so of course we have to make little detours down to the riverbed to look for fish everytime we crossed over haha. I definitely learned something new though. Apparently Salmon die after they mate? WTF? So yeah I saw like 3ft Salmon just layind dead in the river? So weird. And totally don't understand that process. Is it just Salmon or every fish? I kept asking questions haha I'm one of those people that likes having answers to everything and I am sure I thouroughly annoy Ben sometimes when every repsonse he gives i'm like "but why?" haha. Anyhow I intend to find out the answer to this dead fish thing. But yeah so Ben was really excited to take me to this pastie place to eat. (No idea what they are except for the things that girls get to wear under dresses when they can't wear a bra, know what I mean?) So I keep laughing whenever he talks about them! Haha but he was bummed out cuz it is Sunday and they were closed :( So we just went back to the strip and picked a resturant which ended up being the Traverse Brewing Company or Mackinaw Brewing Company, something like that. Anyways they had really good burgers so it worked out.
So long drive home after being so tired and sleep deprived all weekend, but we stopped in Kinglsey, MI. I know sooo cool huh? Bet you didn't know there was a Kingsley, MI. And my aunt and uncle had been through it before and stopped and took a picture with this cool sign that says " Welcome to Kingsley... A little bit of Paradise" Isn't that awesome! So we drove all over trying to find it and couldn't. But it was so awesome driving around seeing everything from the water tower to the pharmacy to the auto place all say Kingsley on them. I said it would be so cool growing up there, I would walk around being a little brat and say "yeah I own the town!" haha and all the 100 people that probably live there, it was kinda little.
So that was the weekend. Sorry this was like a fricken novel that I just wrote but like I started with, this was a busy weekend and better to get it all out now then forget the details! I can't wait to share some pumpkin carving pictures and traverse city pics. So check back soon!

Meet Zach...

Meet Zach Ganton ... A dirtbike lover as you can tell. It was awesome shooting senior pics with him, doing something totally different! I told him I could catch him in action riding so he did a few wheelies for me :) Also Zach surprised me cuz of his laid back, outdoor loving type, he also had awesome style!! You can see for the formal pictures he was very well dressed! All in all a wonderful shoot with an awesome senior and love his family :)

Busy Weekend

So long weekend and a very packed weekend! As I mentioned last week I went in for an interview and got the job! Well for all of those who didn't know and I didn't tell too many but I got a second job shooting at a photo studio. It is mainly a children's studio, you may have seen them in some malls their like little scene set ups and little kids can come in and the parents can pick a little scene for the kid to play and get photographed in. I wanted to try and find something within my field and something I could gain experience from and learn from working with others too, so this is perfect. I think I will enjoy it a lot. Plus it will give me lots of practice for future kid shoots with my own business. The thing is I am taking over for someone else that their letting go, so I am jumping right in and have my own shifts this week! So nervewracking! I know it will work out, just right now between Maranatha and ForeverAngels I am quite busy and semi exhausted. But all good and am very glad I got the job!
As for this weekend I didn't get a break until Saturday morning (this week was packed full at Maranatha with SALTS) so Saturday morning I wake up and work at 7:30am and then as soon as I am done hop in the car with Ben and drive home to J-town. My family hasn't seen me for a few weeks so they were all quite lonely for me :) So spent some time with them and then went to Ashley's for Maeve's 2nd birthday party! It was a lot of fun and I was so happy to see Ash and Ang and Maeve who was the cutest ever! It was a short trip but always feels really great to hang out with your friends and catch up. Then drove back up Saturday night to go to work and then wake up Sunday morning and head to church then potluck then I went with Ben and his whole family to the orchard/farm for the day and that was soooooooo much fun! I love loved it. I took a lot of pics of that and will definitely post them! So Sunday back to the chiropractor then off to the new job for some training, which turned into working the night shift! So basically spent the day there yesterday which was good, feel pretty comfortable and met some new people which I will work with and are super nice! Which brings me to today this morning had Maranatha meeting and then went and bought a new camera and some lenses!! The thing is, it isn't a canon one, its olympus. Which is so weird since I have been shooting with Canon forever and have all the equipment. But I have been researching and talked to a lot of people who have made the switch. So we are testing it out before I make the complete switch. I am excited because I have a shoot this weekend and will be able to test it out. And I am so excited about this engagement shoot and am hoping to get some pretty sweet pictures because the couple it the cutest and the shoot is in Traverse City which should be gorgeous!
So for now... thats my update!
Check back soon for some pics :)

Crazy Few Days..

So I know it has been a few days since I have posted but it has been crazy busy over here. With working a lot this week at Maranatha and having a lot to edit in pictures this past two weeks. Plus the chiropractor and insane headaches that ruin half my day, just a lot on my plate I have been a little over stressed this past week or so. (Sorry to all those who have been in my path!) Things are starting to look a lot better though. I have nearly finished the weddings (done editing, just packaging) and randomly got a call yesterday, went in today for an interview and WHOOO i got a job today! I basically got hired on the spot. It was really good and we ended up talking for like 2 hours just about photography stuff in general and cameras. So it is at a photography studio in the mall, I am excited and am happy about the flexibility and creativity and experience I can gain and experiment with. So that is really good news and I am very happy about it! So looking forward ro everything falling into place. I have a lot of pictures to post about recent work I have been working on. I know life may be difficult and stressful at times but I guess it has its way of working itself out. I was so happy the rain stopped (been non stop for like a week) and we had a beautiful sunset the other night and Reggie and I took a walk down to the beach and had an awesome night and I was once again amazed at how peaceful and happy the beach makes me and makes everything all the stress and anxiety and everything go away in just an instant and everything is at peace with the world again and I realize how truly blessed I really am :)
As for updates on everything else in life the tree in the backyard has been cut down enough and the branches are now a pile in the yard which for some reason fascinates Reggie to death. Apparently he saw a bunny run under the pile and decided for hours on end to chase it through the bushes. Which he can't exactly fit in without digging and shimmining his way into them, which I find hilarious because all that you can see is his but sticking out and his tail wagging fast as it can back and forth in sheer delight! So funny in fact that I video taped it and I will post it for you to smile at as well :)

So this is my first attempt at making movies! Never done it before and totally do not have it figured all out but here's my first video ever!

WOW! That video only took like 3 hours to upload! Anyone know why it takes forever? gee that sucks! No more videos for me!

Back and Neck issues...

So I went to visit the chiropractor last week because I have been having horrible, wait that doesn't even begin to describe it, excruciating painful headaches. My neck and shoulders have been so stiff and just figured it was about time I stopped being stubborn and caved in. So I went and bad news, my spinal curvature in my neck is apparently not curved. Its more like \ yes just like that when it is supposed to look something like ( so kinda out of alignment. So I went like last Wednesday then again on Friday and I had orders to stay off my computer because it is definitely not helping!! I just went back today and my neck muscles were so stiff he couldn't even adjust! I had to go on these massage machines to loosen everything up first. My old chiropractor in Jackson I was there for like 10 maybe 15 minutes and now its like a little over an hour! Thats how much longer he has to work on me. It's insane, and very very painful. I can't even begin to explain these headaches and the stiffness I am getting in my neck and shoulders. I was crying last night it was so painful and I thought I was like paralyzed I could barely move. Ahhh. But in better news my family came up to visit this weekend and we made fudge and played cards and hung out. My dad is staying for a few days this week so that will be good. We went through a couple condos to look at for them. I would love for them to move up here right away but their taking their time.
Well I guess that's all the news for now. I'm happy it is such a gorgeous day out today! Full of sunshine!

Sneak Peek!

So today I took some engagement/family pics of Tim, Stacie and little girl Sidney! She was adorable and couldn't get enough of the beach and seashells! Luckily we found a break in this rain filled weekend for like an hour (literally the rain held off for only that long) and we got some good shots on the beach. Tim and Stacie are from Jackson and they really wanted beach pics!! Although it was cold, windy and slightly rainy they were great sports and a lot of fun!

Don't know why, but I just love love this pic of Sidney! She loved the playset on the beach and she finally gave me an awesome REAL smile telling me how much fun she was having!!

So many things!

Okay so on top of the power outage that happened this week and losing valuable time in computer usage and editing, I ended up going to the Doc yesterday because my neck and shoulders have been sooooo tight and killing me like none other lately. So to make it short, my neck is spasming out of control and in the Docs words "I can understand like one or two knots and spasms but seriously girl there's like 20 there!" And after an adjustment a massage and some sort of pulsating thing I am feeling a little bit better but ordered not to work yesterday or today (which I am violating right now) and to take it easy and if I do (tomorrow) need to go on the computer to work then I have to take a break every 20 minutes. Like that's going to happen! Tomorrow I also go back in again to get the same treatment. Needless to say I can't stay off the computer when I have tons of editing to do and I need to invest in a new desk chair apparently. Right now all I am using is a hard wood kitchen table chair. No cushions. Nothing. And I am already cramping up as I am sitting here typing this paragraph :( oops!
Also while I am blogging about the past few days, when I wrote about the storm that was also before I discovered a gigantic tree that fell down in my backyard. I mean this is at least a 20 footer. (I am not very good at estimating measurements here, but it was big!)
The whole tree

Where it Broke at

Oh yeah and Reggie has this huge I mean worst he has ever done got into the garbage and destroyed everything mess! It was INSANE! I am not even kidding I was sooo mad! His new "favorite" spot which just happens to be where he was found hiding out because he knew he was in trouble, is under my bed. I am talking under there where I can't reach my arm under and touch him. He also loves loves to sleep under the bed. It's so cute though when you don't know where he is and you'll call hi name and all you see is a little wet black nose peeking out from under the dustruffle (which is also black so he blends in quite well) But its really cute. Ignoring the fact that he destroyed a entire bag full of garbage. I even have proof.....
